The King and Queen arrive in Aberdeen for a romantic break

As the couple marks 19 years of marriage, photos of the King and Queen arriving in Aberdeen for a romantic getaway at their cherished Highland home have surfaced.

Images from this evening show Charles and Camilla landing at Aberdeen Airport from RAF Northolt in northwest London.

Since their wedding on April 9, 2005, the King and Queen have celebrated their anniversary at the retreat almost every year.

After arriving by plane at Aberdeen Airport, they were transported seven miles from the castle to the late Queen Mother's residence, where they had also spent their honeymoon.

The King is battling an unidentified type of cancer at the time of the visit. It's unclear whether he's finished receiving therapy or is recovering in between sessions.
Only a few months after his illness shocked the world, the King's presence coincides with Queen Elizabeth's frequent usage of the Balmoral estate for leisure.

Later, the revelation that his daughter-in-law Kate, Princess of Wales, was also afflicted with cancer added insult to injury.

Doctors had previously recommended Charles to stay away from any significant public gatherings and visits in order to preserve his health during an important phase of his treatment.

In spite of this, he has been eager to stay in the spotlight ever since disclosing in February that he had cancer after having surgery to treat an enlarged prostate. "The idea of a monarch cloistered away just wouldn't wash nowadays and will only create damaging speculation about His Majesty's health," an insider had previously told the Mail.

It is known that in the upcoming weeks, he intends to "step up" his schedule.

According to a source from last month, "the patient is positive, the doctors are optimistic, and the treatments are extremely sophisticated—but it is too early to confirm things—and, of course, it is relatively early in His Majesty's treatment cycle."

However, Charles seems to be using the secluded home in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park—just like his mother did—to take a vacation and recuperate.

Most summers, Queen Elizabeth would go to Balmoral to take in the peace and quiet and much-needed repose. She would take care of her Highland ponies and take walks around the expansive country estate.

It is said that while Charles was a guest at Birkhall Retreat, he was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate and utilised the retreat to recuperate from a remedial surgery.

In addition, he picked it for his honeymoon with Camilla following their nuptials 19 years prior, and they celebrated New Year's Day there the previous year.

It is believed that the king is'so positive' about his care that he intends to watch Royal Ascot this summer and a few of the garden parties at Buckingham Palace that celebrate public servants and military heroes.

The Royal Family has lived on the Balmoral estate for over a century.

The King will allow the public access to Balmoral's interior for the first time starting on July 1st, as was disclosed earlier this month.

The King and Queen are really staying in Birkhall, a Palace spokesperson confirmed yesterday. However, the spokesman declined to speak further, citing the private nature of the visit.

The King and Queen will be spending time together at the peaceful royal estate starting today, having celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary yesterday.
